Community Wellness International

Community Wellness International (CWIN), based in Nakuru, Kenya, was founded in late 2014, by a group of friends with backgrounds in social work, health/medical, industrial science, environmental conservation, sanitation and entrepreneurship.
The idea was sparked by the poverty and poor livelihoods in the slums in an around Nakuru. The aim is to enable vulnerable children to have access to basic needs such as food, shelter and clothing and to help them get a good education and access to health care. CWIN’s vision is ‘A satisfactory livelihood for everyone’.
CWIN has a mandate to work in the following counties: Nakuru, Baringo, Bungoma, Kisumu and Homa Bay.
In collaboration with County Government of Nakuru, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education CWIN has implemented 3 projects in Nakuru County:

  • Capacity training in resource mapping with community health volunteers.
  • Forum on quality health delivery at community level
  • Advocacy campaign in 3 primary schools on keeping young girls in school and the provision of sanitary towels.

Project proposals are under consideration in the provision of adequate, clean water; an improvement in the provision of health services; and entrepreneurial projects, all in Nakuru County.
Five hundred and fifty children have been identified for assistance with both uniforms and sanitary towels as part of the child education sponsorship programme.
The organization has submitted proposals towards reinforcement and management capacity building of deserving youth polytechnics in Nakuru County, as part of the vocational training programme.
CWIN has submitted requests for equipment and medicines to improve county health facilities in Ronda and Kapkures slum communities as part of the health facilities and services improvement programme.
Although very young, CWIN is ready and willing to network and collaborate with other organizations with similar objectives, to improve the socio-economic concerns in target communities.
